International Exchange

With the accumulation of knowledge and experience technology over a long period of time and the purchasing of a quantity of international leading instruments, SIFDC has accessed to a high-speed development period after relocating to the new site invested by Shanghai municipal government in September 2006.
In recent years, SIFDC has participated in scientific research projects funded by Ministry of Science and Technology of P. R. China, Committee of China Pharmacopoeia, and Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality. SIFDC has also got Ministry of Health Scientific Progress Award, State Technology Progress Award, and Shanghai Great Achievements in Scientific Research, etc. The institute has undertaken 32 big scientific research projects during 2004 to the beginning of 2009.
What is particularly gratifying is that our national-level research project,‘Research of Key Technologies in the Testing and Analysis of Pesticide, Heavy metals and Mycotoxins in Traditional Chinese Medicines’,has had a historical breakthrough, which has been funded 7.5 million yuan by Ministry of Science and Technology of P. R. China. On the basis of our traditional advantages of drug analysis, the institute has also had periodic success on the food and cosmetic product analysis.
From 2005, SIFDC has co-operated with Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry to cultivate graduate students. Six master-degree students have already graduated now.SIFDC has actively participated in the international cooperation and academic exchanges.
From 2007, SIFDC has participated the testing of EP reference standards with the collaboration with European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM).
In 2007 and 2008, SIFDC has signed letters of intent with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and Hongkong Government Laboratory, respectively, to reach the agreements on the cooperation in Multidisciplinary testing areas.
Meanwhile, SIFDC has also participated in proficiency testing of Asian Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), and Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) established by UK Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Health. Furthermore, SIFDC is the designated food safety laboratory of Yum! Restaurants, China, and also the designated cooperative laboratory of SGS, Swiss.
In recent years, many government officials and experts from different countries and districts have visited the institute. From 2003, SIFDC has offered great opportunities to send staff abroad to be visiting scholars through open competitions every year. Moreover, visiting delegations from SIFDC are organized on a regular basis in order to learn from other related institutes in similar areas.
